Personally Yours - Author Rico Salam

Personally Yours will give you a brief look inside your favorite authors world. We know they write smokin' books, but do they smoke with the Surgeon General and if they do, what? Are they left-handed or right handed? Take a personal look inside Author Rico Salam's life. Enjoy Personally Yours!

1.Who is Rico Salam? - Rico Salam is an up and coming author from West Philadelphia who is striving to give young black men from the urban community a different image in the sight of America. Unfortunately my childhood wasn’t what you would call the best upbringing. I was brought up and raised in a house hold full of alcoholics and drug addicts. So people thought my future was ruined from day one. However my plans were different. I knew if anyone was going to make a change in my family then it had to be me. So I stayed in school and became the first person in my family to ever graduate. After that I enrolled in college and earned a degree in business management. This is when I realized there wasn’t anything I couldn’t do, so I decided to write my first novel “GET MINE OR GET NAKED”.

2.What are you passionate about? - I’m passionate about helping other people who are trying to help themselves. A lot of the time people just need someone who believe in them and will give them that extra push they need to excel. So if I can lend a helping hand to someone who is seriously trying to better their self, then I’m all for it.

3.Why should the world take notice of you? - Because I’m the example of what the power of a prayer can do for a person. I’m far from being rich or famous but I come a long way from being the little boy who grew up in a crack house. I don’t know who was praying for me but I’m sure somebody was because my life could be a lot different right now.

4.What is your favorite chick flavor? A meaty ham, a juicy pork-chop, or a fat free chicken? - Well I don’t eat pork, so the ham is out of the question. And a fat free chicken is just not enough to satisfy a brother. So I’ll say I like mine nice and beefy, but I don’t want the whole cow.

5.What are your life rules? - I’m a firm believer in patience. Success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a lot of hard work and patience to bring your dreams to a reality.

6. You know you are going to die on April 6, 2015 how will you live the remainder of your life? In fear or joy? - Since I already know I’m going to die I would do stuff that I would normally be afraid to do. Like jumping out of airplanes, going swimming with sharks, driving my car at 140 in a 60 mile zone. JUST HAVE NO FEAR AT ALL.

7.5 Favs-

Color- royal blue
Food-lasagna
Movie- Malcom X
Song- Cry for you by Jodeci
Drink- Pink Lemonade

8.Do you forgive regardless of what someone has done for you? -It all depends on how close I am to the person. If we have a close relationship then I would normally forgive them. But if we aren’t that close then I just keep my distance.

9.If you could change your past would you? - I really would like to say yes because there are a lot of mistakes I made in my life that I would like to fix. But if I didn’t make those mistakes I wouldn’t be the person I am today. So I would say no.

10. In the nude or negligee? - I like the negligee because that shows that she is really trying to be sexy for me. I like it when a woman goes out of her way to do something special for me.

11.Where can we find you on the net? - Right know you can find me on Facebook and The Firm Publications.Com

12. Fill in the blank with one word. To know Rico Salam is to appreciate Rico Salam.

EXCERPT - Wait for Love: A Black Girl's Story

Some women don't leave until they get their ass kicked the right way. Not a bruise or a broken bone, but a good deep down ass whoopin'. Not enough blood for questions, but just enough to make their soul wonder why....

Wait for Love: A Black Girl's Story - $12 http://www.wandadhudson.com/

Terrance started a fight with me that morning over my use of water. He said I should pay the water bill, along with the rent, because I was bigger than him and used more of it. It was early and I was cranky from not having much sleep the night before. He had his friends over for an all night party on a Tuesday. None of them had jobs, so no one had anywhere to be but where they were. I didn’t feel like hearing what he had to say, so I replied with a smart quick tongue, hoping to silence him.

“That’s the stupidest thing you’ve said to date. I guess you expect me to pay the cable, gas, light, and phone bill as well since your pathetic ass isn’t man enough to do it. Shut up, Terrance. It’s too early for your mouth.”

My response caught him off guard because his reply to me was that of silence. I started walking towards the bathroom to get dressed when I heard him running up behind me. My face was met with his head when I turned towards him. The fool head butted me. His exact target was my eye. I fell backwards on the floor and grabbed my face in pain. Gray stars and filthy vultures circled my face and moaned a song of gloom; it hurt so bad.

While I was on the floor crying and screaming how sick I thought Terrance was, he started kicking me in my back, sides, and face, while yelling in crazy man lingo.
“Don’t you ever talk back to me, you fat, sloppy bitch! Your stupid ass is going to pay every bill that comes into this house whether I have a job or not! Now get your sorry ass up and fix me some breakfast!”

He stopped kicking me and walked away muttering words under his breath that only a psychotic nut would understand. I managed to get up and went into the bathroom to look at my face. My left eye watched my right eye swell up, and my right eye noticed my left eye was red and puffy. My black eyes were on their way.

I took my nightgown off and looked at my stomach in the mirror. It was bruised and I imagined my back was, as well. There was no need to look because I’d felt this way before. I wanted to call into work, but I was already absent two days that week and couldn’t afford to miss anymore. My right eyeball was no longer visible, and I’d have to wear a pair of light colored shades all day as I’d done before. I was at the point of not even bothering to put on makeup to try and cover it up, knowing what I was hiding, as did everyone else.

I’m not sure who was who, but I came out of the bathroom to see Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde standing in my living room in the form of Terrance’s body.
“Hey, baby. I have some interviews to go on today, so I’ll drop you off at work. I put your purse and jacket in the car, and I want to stop and grab you some breakfast, so hurry your sweet self up.”

He walked out the door and I stood in the middle of the room waiting for an answer. Someone needed to tell me Terrance was sick and I wasn’t the person that had his cure. Sure, I had the answer; I just didn’t feel like talking to myself.

Personally Yours - Author Gerald Rice

Personally Yours will give you a brief look inside your favorite authors world. We know they write smokin' books, but do they smoke with the Surgeon General and if they do, what? Are they left-handed or right handed? Take a personal look inside Author Gerald Rice's life. Enjoy Personally Yours!

1. Who is Gerald Rice? He's a dead body rotting in the corpse of a rusted out Grand Am in the backyard of an abandoned house in Highland Park. Hey look- I just found him that way, I didn't do it. But me? I'm a guy who did a lot of different things before finally coming back to my passion. I'm a father and a husband too. I'm a lifelong Detroiter where ever I go. I'm a grateful child of a broken home.

2. What are you passionate about? Books. Reading was my first passion, writing is my second. No, horror movies were my first passion. Then reading, then writing. I started watching horror movies when I was about 4. My mother introduced me to them. She was a huge Stephen King fan and she was really the reason I started reading for pleasure. I was in the Horizons Upward Bound program when I decided to start writing as a hobby. I had a creative writing class where we all had to write a story and read it aloud to the class. There was something so addictive about having a captive audience listening to something I created. I wasn't really that good at first, I think I can be bold enough to say I was pretty bad. But I never stopped wanting it. I committed myself to learning from the books I read. People like Stephen King (obviously), F. Paul Wilson, Al Sarantonio, Ethan Black, most recently David Wong and a host of others.

3. Why should the world take notice of you? I'm different. Not that I'm the only unique voice, but I think all unique voices should be heard. You won't pick up another book on the shelves like mine. I've always been the 'what's next' or 'what's new' guy. If I'm writing about monsters I want it to be THAT monster you think of when you lie awake at night. I want to push any genre I write in, to create someone else's favorite or most hated character. I'm not a black writer; I'm a writer who just so happens to be black. Just like I'm a writer who just so happens to have feet. It's a part of me, a major part even, but not my sum total.

4. Old school music or todays Hip Hop and R&B? I'm going to say both and neither. My tastes are weird. There's a lot of old stuff I just never dug and a lot of old stuff I only liked because my parents liked it and a lot of stuff I just got burned out on. And whenever I had control of the radio in the car I was always flipping past stuff other people probably liked. My mama used to have nights where she would let me or my brother pick the music. We could go through her extensive record collection and play a dozen or so songs. I picked stuff like 'Electric Avenue' (back when nobody was listening to Eddie Grant except like 5 people and we were 3 of them), Billy Ocean and Rod Stewart (don't pretend like 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy' wasn't the jam). Stevie Wonder is my all-time favorite artist but I can't STAND 'Ribbon in the Sky' anymore; give me 'Do I Do' or 'Creepin'' (I also can only listen to like 2 Luther Vandross songs and his version isn't one of them).

But the new guys, I don't know, I don't keep up with music like I used to so it's tough to name who I like. Jaheim, I think his name is, every time I hear him I have to turn him off. I liked 'Ain't Leavin' Without You' back when George Benson called it 'Gimme the Night'. But I'm a huge fan of Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Corinne Bailey Rae. Some Alicia Keys is okay and Rihanna is like junk food. I know it's not really that good, but I can't help myself.

5.What are your life rules?
Don't expect to get something you don't give
Expect me to pick at you if you let me know something bugs you (it's a Rice trait--we're jerks like that)
Be careful who you step on today, they might be standing over you tomorrow
Don't touch my food
Stay out of other people's bedrooms
Seeing your mother naked after 12 will give you eyeball cancer

6. If God sent you a text message what would it say? What did you put in the turkey burgers? Those were awesome.

7. 5 Favs -

a. color - Green

b. food - steak (medium well)

c. movie - The Thing

d. song - 'What You Won't Do for Love'

e. drink - Cranberry juice

8. Do you forgive regardless of what someone has done to you? I like that JFK quote: Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names.

9. If you could change your past would you? Sometimes I think I would, but it then again everything I've done up until now has lead me here. My life isn't the greatest, but I can't imagine life without the people I have in it or the things I've accomplished.

10. Random thought - If there's something you really want to do with your life then you won't let any obstacle stand in the way of you doing it.

11. Where can we find you on the net? Feel My Ghost or my Facebook page, which I have no idea how to find.

12. Fill in the blank with one word - To know Gerald Rice is to be touched by the squishy brain of Gerald Rice.

I Just Wanna Know...

Self-Published Authors; are you open to consignment, or is it strictly cash up front? I want my books in as many stores and locations as possible - BUT - people sure can act a fool when they get your book in their hands. Do they own your work? Do they control your destiny? Do they have a right to give you your chedda when they feel like it? And what is up with the 50-50 split? 60-40? 80-20? 100-0?

Everybody Needs A Little Luv but dayum! When does business turn into greed that makes you to hungy to starve?

I Just Wanna Know...

Personally Yours - Author Timothy N. Stelly

Personally Yours will give you a brief look inside your favorite authors world. We know they write smokin' books, but do they smoke with the Surgeon General and if they do, what? Are they left-handed or right handed? Take a personal look inside Author Timothy Stelly's life. Enjoy Personally Yours!

1. Who is Timothy N. Stelly? - I am a burgeoning poet, aspiring screenwriter, novelist and essayist. My first love is satire, but sci-fi had become my bread and butter. I am a student of writing, still learning something new and interesting about my craft.

2. What are you passionate about? - Other than writing and church, I believe in service to others. I help whenever and wherever I can. As for my writing, I am obsessed with presenting thought-provoking writing to the public.

3. Why should the world take notice of you? - I'm not a cookie-cutter sci-fi writer nor of any other genre. In HUMAN TRIAL, which is technically sci-fi, the story focus on human relations and the idea that the biggest threat to man is man, and not an unseen enemy. Even in my upcoming novel, A JUNKIE'S PARADISE, which deals with a viral outbreak, the focus is on human dynamics and man's willingness to exploit other men for their own survival.

4. Vanilla, Chocolate or Neopolitan? - Chocolate, rather its ice cream or ladies. I love my beautiful black women. No one has ever loved me stronger than those special beings.

5.What are your life rules? - Think before speaking or acting and accept responsibility for the consequences of both; Never criticize anything you don't understand, can't replace or improve. I also live by the mantra, "To whom much is given, much is expected."

6.You are the last man on earth with Coretta Scott King and Rosa Parks. Who would you choose to procreate with and why? - Both are beautiful and strong, but I think Coretta was younger, so I'd opt for the one who will be spry the longest.

7. 5 Favs -
a. color -Green--all shades. It has always re[presented youth--translate that as promise. Plus, it reminds me of Omaha *(where I lived for 3 years) in the summer, with all its greenery.

b. food - Meatloaf, mac and cheese and I'm an ice cream junkie. You can probably tell as much from my photo.

c. movie - Hustle and Flow; though I think Do The Right Thing is the most important movie I've ever seem.

d. song - The original Alphonse Mouzon recording of The Next Time We Love (From his By All Means CD.)

e. drink - Vodka and orange juice.

8. Do you forgive regardless of what someone has done to you? Yes. It takes time, however. When I examine the offender's track record, I find they usually have a history of doing dirt, so I pray that there be distance between me and anyone who wants to hurt me, my family or who harbors ill will toward me. That prayer is always answered. Pver the years I've lost quite a few (so-called) friends and ex's. So be it.

9. If you could change your past would you? - In two areas. I graduated at sixteen, but when I attended college, I never focused on a major. If I could go back to that age, I would have attended a southern black college so I could see that part of the country and spend my youth surrounded by the folks I love most. I would have also waited to become a father. I was 18 when I became a father and by the time I was 23 had four kids and was making just enough to get us by.

10. Random thought - Love is blue.

11. Where can we find you on the net? stellyhumantrial.com, and I post essays sporadically at useless-knowledge.com and e-zinearticles.com. You can "take the grand tour" and just Google "Timothy N. Stelly Sr." I'm all over the place.

12. Fill in the blank with one word - To know Timothy Stelly is to Observe and listen to him with an open mind.

Personally Yours - Author Brooklyn Darkchild

Personally Yours will give you a brief look inside your favorite authors world. We know they write smokin' books, but do they smoke with the Surgeon General and if they do, what? Are they left-handed or right handed? Take a personal look inside Author Brooklyn Darkchild's life. Enjoy Personally Yours!

1. Who is Brooklyn Darkchild? Brooke??? She so Cra-zy! No really: Brooke is That Girl who's gonna Tell It Like It Is, even if she sticks her foot in it sometimes. Don't ask me a question if you don't really wanna know the answer. Some people find that hard to deal with, but the last thing I want to do is hurt anybody's feelings. I love everybody--well, today anyway. Like all artists I can be quirky and unconventional at times, but I'm really basically a homebody. My family is Everything to me.

2. What are you passionate about? Writing. Good writing. A good book can Take You Places, when I was a kid books were all I had. I'm also passionate about children. They're a heavy responsibility; too many people don't take that into consideration before having them.

3. Why should the world take notice of you? Because I'm good. There's a lot of crap on the shelves today, but This Ain't No Hearts and Flowers Love Story isn't part of that. My books are funny and entertaining but they also make you think. I wanna change people's lives with my work, not just give them something to pass away the time.

4. In one year where will you be? In one year my youngest will be seventeen: I'd like to think I'll be Free. But who knows? There are so many places to go, so many things to do... it's hard to make up my mind. I guess I'll just Go With The Flow and see where the Lord will Take Me. Anywhere He decides will be Good.

5.What are your life rules? Be as honest as you possibly can.
Never pass up an opportunity to help someone.
It takes just as much energy to complain as it does to Change Your Life.
Unhappiness is a mindset that can be overcome
Let everything I do please the Lord

6. If you knew you wouldn't get caught what would you do? God is ALWAYS watching.
Yeah, I'm That Girl.
Sorry.

7. 5 Favs -
a. color-sunshine yellow

b. food-fried chicken (and YES: I Do Eat Watermelon)

c. movie-You got a year? Uhhhhh.....Crap, I can't pick one. There's too many. Anything with the Predator in it. OH! OH! WAIT!! Favorite Movie of the Moment??? Terminator Salvation. I watched it every day for a week.

d. song-I love music as much as I love movies. Right now it's "I'm Forgiven" by Sanctus Real and "On and On" by Chasen.

e. drink-Ice Cold Lemonade

8. Do you forgive regardless of what someone has done to you? I've been known to hold a grudge forever but I'm Learning To Let Go with God's help. Notice I said Learning now...

9. If you could change your past would you? Absolutely. I'd change my looks too. But everything I went through made me who I am today and that's not a Bad Thing. It's a Painful Thing, but not a Bad Thing.

10. Fantasy parents - Florida and James or Louise and George? Oh, Florida and James honey. Why? Ain't we lucky we got em???

11. Where can we find you on the net? Like Visa, I'm Everywhere You Wanna Be: on Goodreads, MySpace, Facebook, and my Personal Favorite: Brooklyn Darkchild

12. Fill in the blank with one word - To know Brooklyn Darkchild is to wonder about Brooklyn Darkchild.
Oh, wait: that's Two Words, right??? Sorry...I wasn't Paying Attention. You know I have ADHD.

Wherever He Is

Wherever He Is, he is. He is everywhere and so is he. I believe, so I am with Him and we are always together. I miss my daddy. But when you believe in Him it’s alright. I believe – I’m alright.

So why the doubt? Why do I refuse to understand? Why do I have to remind myself to step out on faith? Faith, belief…Lawd help me. Should you believe what you can’t see or touch? Should you believe what you feel? I believe what I feel. Faith.

Death. Death to me equals disappearing without a trace. How is that possible? My father was here. He held me, he talked to me, he laughed with me, he loved me and now he’s gone. The trace is memories. No one can disappear without a trace. There is something there, but maybe we haven’t seen it yet. When he first passed away I couldn’t remember anything. All the dreams I had were jumbled and he was never in them. Now I see him clearly – my trace is abundant.

Confusion. Confusion equals chaos, which leads to fear. We fear the unknown. Do you believe what you don’t know? Faith; just hold on to faith.

It was good to go back to Florida and talk to my daddy. A weird thought came to me. I felt I could dig deep in the dirt and open his casket so he would see me. STOOPID. I got a grip and just talked. I talk to him a lot, but talking in person always outweighs distance. I know he heard me. He hears me each and every time. I wonder will I see him again. When we die do we change? Do we forget? Do we still love and remember who we left behind? When I die will I see him? Will he want to see me? I believe. I’m still his babygirl, so the answer is yes.

Doubt always gets on my nerves. It thinks it can shut me down since I don’t have my captain here giving me pep talks. Faith beats doubt all the time; straight flush, gin rummy, go fish. Whatever you choose to play, choose faith as your teammate - you’ll never lose.

I took a picture of his headstone to see his name. I traced it and cried. My Doobah said, “Hey, that’s my last name. He has the same last name as me.” Thank God for shades. He was here, he is here. We say no more pain or suffering and that’s what I lean towards. My daddy was sick. I didn’t want him to be sick. We say that’s The Master’s Plan. Believe that His Plans never fail. Pain ceases, hurt subsides, but memories last forever.

I feel good….better. If I only have two dollars in my pocket I can make it. Yah’ll can help a sista by going to my website…Anyway…

Wherever He Is, he is. I believe, so he is always with me.

I love you daddy.

Personally Yours - Author Nanette Buchanan

Personally Yours will give you a brief look inside your favorite authors world. We know they write smokin' books, but do they smoke with the Surgeon General and if they do, what? Are they left-handed or right handed? Take a personal look inside Author Nanette Buchanan's life. Enjoy Personally Yours!

1. Who is Nanette Buchanan? I am a Christian, a wife, mother, grandmother, Senior Corrections Officer, an author and child advocate. I currently reside in New Jersey. I am an Instructor at the New Jersey Department of Corrections Training Academy. As an author, I published my first novel in 2007 and today I now have three published fictional novels and an e-book of poetry. I am the hostess of ASA Blog (Authors Supporting Authors) Talk Radio and the co-host of Angel Wings Publication Blog Talk Radio. A show which advocates for Domestic Violence victims.

2. What are you passionate about? My writing has been an important part of my life. I began while attending Rutgers University in New Jersey, and never imagined that it would be more to me than simply putting a pen to pad. I pen because it has soothed me, been a force to vent, rejoice and assist in many aspects in my life. I pen for enjoyment and as an inspiration to others. I pen because I realize it is more than just a hobby and it consumes me even when I am not actively writing. I pen because I love it.

3. Why should the world take notice of you? I would love for the world to take notice of me, but I feel I would better serve the world or people through my words. Being an instructor, author and hostess on the Blog Radio shows has given me a route to make a change, express the need for positive solutions, and share new ideas and information.

4. In one year where will you be? LOL....still working full time. I have a few years left before retiring. I will be a Sergeant within the next year, however I will be looking to make the rank of Lieutenant before retiring. I also want my publishing company to be working diligently for myself and other authors who wish to publish their work through I Pen Books.

5.What are your life rules? Live each day fulfilling a dream. Being optimistic doesn't mean ignoring what is negative....understand it is the negative that becomes obstacles and will delay progress. Be healthy mentally, physically and emotionally. You can't progress when stressed, take the time to take care of yourself.

6. What is your $1 and a dream? Reaching a peaceful plateau. There is nothing more rewarding than peace of mind. It soothes the soul, enriches the spirit and controls the heart. For my dollar, I want peace of mind.

7. 5 Favs -
a. color -Green, meaning life and of course money

b. food -I love my husband's cooking. Any food well prepared has my vote. I am a lover of most seafood dishes.

c. movie -Wow....there are so many. "Usual Suspects"....I love a good mystery.....and "The Color Purple" but my list is unlimited.

d. song -Wow...again I'm stumped "Zoom"- Lionel Richie and the Comodores......."What You won't do for Love" - Bobby Coburn "Crazy Love- LutherVandross......I could go on....

e. drink - Gingerale.....don't really have a preferred mixed drink.....Wine maybe Zifandel

8. Do you forgive regardless of what someone has done to you? Not always easy to do.....I'm still working on that.

9. If you could change your past would you? Yes, there's always something I reflect on that could have been done better, now that I know better. I would have started publishing my work earlier in my life. I definitely wouldn't have let others influence me to hesitate or doubt some of the decisions wanted to make.

10. Random thought - If I could have done things differently what other obstacles would I have met? Our dreams eventually becomes a reality. You start building your world on your dreams.

11. Where can we find you on the net? I have a My Space and Face Book site, and various ning sites also www.ipendesignsblogspot.com and www.ipendesigns.net

REVIEW - LuvMe - 05/18/10

“Luv Me.” by Wanda D. Hudson, sucked me in with her sensual opening piece entitled “Dear Diary” and set the momentum for the rest of this sexy read!
A collection of sensual short stories that you could read during your lunch break or after one of those “Calgon take me away baths”

Ms. Hudson provides the stage for her readers to live vicariously through her character’s lives and erotic fantasies.

A different tasty treat as you encounter each story as no two are alike. Ms Hudson dispensed humor along with lust and originality with each scenario.

You’re bound to find one that will be a favorite. ”DSL”, Room with a View” and “She” are the three that stood out for me.

Lust, entertainment and passion are what you’ll get between these pages…are you ready?

A recommended read.

REVIEW - LuvMe - 05/17/10

Wanda D. Hudson’s LuvMe is the truth when it comes to a sonata simmering with delectable tales. LuvMe presented me with a sweetness that immediately ignited a smile from page one. The flavor of LuvMe is entertaining, funny, and offers a sensual flow that is satisfying. You know how you feel when you are catching a peak of eye candy who isn’t aware that you are watching them? LuvMe gave me that feeling. As I turned the pages, it was like opening up a box to an assortment of the finest chocolate. H-Ball Eva, DSL, Bertice, Succulent… there’s a hot treat for you to discover.
LuvMe drifted me into a world of fantasy I could’ve never imagined. As with any good thing, I wanted more. Seriously, it is knee buckling, finger biting literary goodness. Well, it was for me. Ladies, a hot bubble bath, a glass of Zinfandel, and Luv Me is the perfect relaxation to come home to after a long day. Men, there is a pleasure in LuvMe for you too. Get it. It is hot.

REVIEW - Wait for Love: A Black Girl's Story - 05/01/10

If you have read the Coldest Winter Ever and Flyy Girl and all of those other hot must reads then you are going to LOVE Wait For Love by Ms. Wanda D. Hudson. Wait For Love is a phenomenal story, which I recommend for ALL women to read regardless of their relationship status. This novel touches upon various situations that every female will embark upon sometime in her life, or come in contact with someone who has encountered some of these circumstances. This quick paced novel is very entertaining, enlightening, and easy to read While reading this novel you cant help but stop and recap about obstacles which you may have faced and how you could have handled them differently or stop to say “Thank God that I’ve never experienced that”. Regardless of who you are, where you come from, and how you were raised you will be able to take something from this novel be it as basic as the fact that you should educate your child about sex and self image, or on the more compound end of the spectrum you may realize the importance of taking one day at a time and waiting for love because as we are reminded in this story patience is truly a virtue.

REVIEW - Wait for Love: A Black Girl's Story 04/15/10

I am love sick and food is the cure

I really enjoyed this novel and felt like I received some answers to the low self-esteem issues. Ms. Hudson will do a number on your emotions with this one. You will want to kill the main character and other times you won’t be able to do anything but laugh because she just seems that dumb. Other times you will only feel compassion for her and want to treat her like she’s your child

We ride shot gun with Lynnette “Lynnde” Lee from the time of eighteen until forty. That may seem like a long time but I have to say it works well. The best of the book is the comic sarcastic commentary that is so on point it’s eerie. Lynnde gives new meaning to the statement “Looking for love in all the wrong places." Her love life goes from bad to worse with each new love interest. Her relationships are turbulent to say the least and through it all she has her cure all….food. Over the years we watch her struggle to keep a man all the while struggling with her weight. While obesity is a real issue in our society, I have yet to see it dealt with in this matter and was pleasantly pleased with the end result.

I recommend this book to all as it’s very insightful and will cause you to do some thinking about folks in your life. I look forward to reading books from Ms. Hudson in the future I love her writing style and the direct talking to the reader is a welcome change, especially because she got it right and predicted what I was thinking.

EXCERPT – LuvMe

Dear,Diary
June 18, 2007

I’ve always wanted one of those dark chocolate men. The kind of darkness that makes you wonder if the skin hurts. The hue almost has a purple bluish tint, but it eludes this shade. Some women like the high colored man, yellow, a red bone that is close enough to white as a black person can get. Something about the dark is sexy to me. Doing it in the dark is stimulating, warm, and cozy. Even with the lights off the world can see a light man do his thing. But a dark man, umph, mysterious deep heat surrounds him. I want to get sexually tingled by his warmth.

EXCERPT - SHE - The Story of Tasha and Javar
Javar stroked his long, hard, erection fast and furious during his fifth bathroom break. All morning his dick teased him of the events of last night, and he could no longer hide, nor handle himself in the office. It was only eleven a.m., and although he managed to make his erection subside the four previous times, his control had waned. The desire of needing a magnificent release overpowered him.The men’s bathroom was empty and the thought of discharging his cum into a urinal was exciting, but risky. Not wanting to lose his job, Javar positioned himself in the last stall directly in front of the toilet, and jacked himself to his freaky content....read more and get your $5 order on at Wanda D. There were times when we were a good five minutes into physical activity when he did manage to obtain an erection and he`d go limp. He'd shrivel up to the size of a miniature raisin that had been soaked in rum overnight. One time he was drunk when it happened and he garbled, "You not suckin` it right! Coming Soon – A Sheltered Life

A stressful sleep held me as we rode for a few hours. It released me when the truck came to a rushed halt. I rolled into one of the rusted sides and the jagged edges cut my skin. Small bubbles of blood began to form while I watched, waited, and hoped that I would bleed to death.

The man slammed the door and yelled, “I gos’ta relieve ma’self. You kin go round there to that tree if ya gos’ta piss. I won’t be long.” Read more at Wanda D. Hudson

REVIEW - Wait for Love: A Black Girl's Story

“A Book of Pathos”

Wanda D. Hudson’s novel Wait for Love is the story of a young woman’s quest to find “Real” love while experiencing many let downs from her first love to the last. The Main character Lynnde Lee, takes us on a dramatic rollercoaster ride that spins out of control and sends the reader through loop after loop as one could not imagine the hellish nightmare she suffers at every jerky turn, all in the name of love. The story is a paradox of loneliness and despair. The over all mood is sadness. Without the unconditinal love of her best friend Esta and encouragement from her mother, how will Lynnde ever climb her way out of the emotional turmoil she constantly finds her self in and live, and does she?

I wouldn’t call Wait for Love a literary romp but a literary elevator ride with a sense of falling fast. In one scene, Lynnde has me laughing as she describes kids as “Reggedy ass kids.” In fact there are several scenes where I giggle and chuckle. However, from the moment I opened the book I felt as if I’d stumbled upon someone’s journal, sneaked a peak inside, and refused to put it down until I knew how Lynnde’s tragic life turned out. The strongest points in the story are where the author turns tragedy into comedy which is a plus for the reader in search of emotional strength and inspiration.

But, the writer doesn’t get off that easily. I had to steal one star away from this story and one star only. Let’s just say, “Wanda, girl, come on now! What “Wait for Love lacked in, setting, scenery and circa, which is the backdrop of any novel, the author made up for in personality. Nevertheless, the reader journeys through Lynnde Lee’s life and knows her pain. Lynnde knows what you’re thinking too and predicts and names your reaction which is genius. Her insight is yours for healing. You will enjoy and appreciate her musings and learn valuable life lessons throughout.
The author speaks eloquently and the message is clear, “Wait for Love!”

There’s a New York Times best selling author on the horizon. Keep your eyes open for Wanda D. Hudson!

Awww, Baby, LuvMe Reader Reviews!

Great Book..Read it!!, March 12, 2010
By Shahara Roberts
My boyfriend got this book for me from the author herself. I started reading the book in between classes and it was really hard to put it down. It leaves you salivating, fantasizing and experiencing the pain, love and confusion of the characters. I finished the book in less than two days and was ready to start on her first book titled "Waiting for Love'.
Furthermore, I have to say that this book was well put together and Wanda has all of my support.

Entertaining Read, January 27, 2010
By Tracey Mcfarlan "Diva Spice"
Luv Me is an entertaining collection of erotic short stories. It takes you to places you fantasize about going to and leaves you wanting more. It will fill you with sexual and sensual pleasure as well as comic relief. Each story gives a riveting encounter of love, lust and passion. It's a good read whether you're on the bus or train going to work or right before you go to bed. After reading Wanda's first book, Wait For Love: A Black Girl's Story, I was expecting something similar, but was pleasantly surprised when I realized how different the two books are. Well done, Wanda! You've done a marvelous job once again. Can't wait for the next one.

A-Stigma-Tism

A few weeks ago I had an eye doctor appointment. I received wonderful news in that I can actually see better then the computer measured results. The doctor stated that based on his printout I should not be able to read the eye chart as well as I did. It’s a miracle! Well, maybe not, but I walked out of the office with a normal pair of glasses versus the oh, so, un-sexy coke-bottle aww, dayum frames.

The American Optometic Association defines Astigmatism as a vision condition that causes blurred vision due either to the irregular shape of the cornea, the clear front cover of the eye, or sometimes the curvature of the lens inside the eye. An irregular shaped cornea or lens prevents light from focusing properly on the retina, the light sensitive surface at the back of the eye. As a result, vision becomes blurred at any distance. One week after my appointment I realized that I did have a-stigma-tism, but eye glasses were not what I needed to correct the condition.

I was driving and looking for a building address. Why do buildings go from number 26 to number 82? Just ridiculous! Although I was in the vicinity, I became frustrated when there was no place to park, so I could get out and ask for directions. Didn’t the world know that I was in desperate search of building number 47? I’m going to call my State Senator and complain; that’s if he isn’t to busy getting his freak on from a call that he made…to forgive is divine.

Well, I pulled up to the entrance of a parking garage and proceeded to take the directions out and explain them to the attendant. While I was halfway through my sentence I asked the attendant did he speak English. Rude, WandaLuv, just rude! Frustration makes you say some stupid shit, but degrading someone is simply ignorant. My entire tone with the foreigner was uncalled for. My assumption = a-stigma-tism in my mind.

See, I grouped the attendant with “his kind.” Can speak limited English and only knew how to direct cars up and down the ramp of the parking garage. Everybody has a story to tell; maybe I will read about his in the news one day. He may become the inventor of a device that pinpoints your exact location with picture detail, tells you where to park your car, and when to shut your mouth before you say something rude.

I did use the garage to park my car and when I retrieved it I made sure that I thanked him for directing me, and apologized for giving him a hard time. He smiled, said thank you, and probably muttered I get your kind all the time.

The word stigma means the mark of disgrace or discredit. Do you group people together as a whole, or do you see them as an individual? If you’ve seen one have you seen them all, or have you ever really noticed that one exists?

I kind of thought it was me, but realized it wasn’t after attending my daughter’s school last week for an after school program. My daughter’s first grade teacher sometimes talks to me with a hint of doubt in her voice. As if she’s telling me to do this for my child, but none of the parents ever do, so she knew that I wouldn’t either. It’s like she’s brushing me off; like I’m the same as each parent that sends their child to school unprepared. Maybe she does it and doesn’t know. Is that ignorance or adapted behavior? Hmmm…
At the school I had a chance to see a small percentage of the students and some of the parents. Was it my a-stigma-tism or were the parents classed as those kinds of people?

While deciding to write this post I thought about times that I have had a-stigma-tism. Once when riding the train in New York City my CD batteries went dead. My eyes scanned the car looking for an Asian person that my have batteries to sell. There was one woman seated a few feet away. I actually thought about going to ask her for batteries. Hey, I wanted the remainder of my ride to be musically filled. Rude, but a-stigma-tism clouds not only your vision, but your mind.

Is it a natural reaction to group races together? Is it a learned behavior? Can you get to know an individual without attaching the history of their nationality to them? Can we talk to someone of a different race about who we are without bringing up our history?

Astigmatism of the eye can be corrected. A-Stigma-Tism of the mind? Hmmm…

I luv yah’ll

In With the Old, Out With the New....

Confusing title? At first glance sure, but keep reading. A new year means another chance to change everything that you didn’t quite seem to get to last year. Was one of those changes buying a new cell phone? What was wrong with the old one? Did it make phone calls like it was intended to do? Maybe you wanted to upgrade to a new phone because of the text messaging feature, the camera, the email alerts, or the fifty-trillion applications that you never use.

Buying a new car is always a blessing. Why did you buy one? Was it to get the new model that looks and drives like the old model, but costs ten thousand dollars more? The ten thousand dollars amount – exaggerated I know - is for the added comfort of two extra cup holders on the doors, just in case the four in the center aren’t enough.

The old way of wearing clothes seemed fine. You put on a shirt to cover the top portion of your body, and pants or skirts to cover the lower. The new way to wear clothing is to show as much titty and ass-crack allowed by law. Isn’t there an old law for indecent exposure?

Sneakers that light up so kids can see themselves when they’re outside playing at night. Uh, the old way was to have your ass in the house before it got dark.

A savings bank between your mattresses may not gain interest but taking it into the bank opens up a whole new world. It is the avenue for a pleasant exchange with the teller, and it provides security and light chatter to get the teller through the work day. The new – online banking, ATMs, and hidden fees that show up when you have no money to pay them. Overdraft!

Respect. What has happened to teaching our children about or adults living in respect? Adults are not supposed to swear, but we do. In the old days children would sneak and swear when adults weren’t around. The new children? Awww, Lawd! Somebody wash that child’s mouth out with bleach! They don’t use the proper salutation when addressing us either. Somewhere Miss, Mr. and Mrs. was replaced with whatever they felt like saying at the time.

Who decides to keep changing technology? Who are we keeping up with? What is happening to the technology of your family? When a fifteen year old boy texts his mother to tell her that he got his girlfriend pregnant we have gone too far! Sex and texting? Awww, Lawd! Sitting at the dinner table eating as a family isn’t the same when everyone is checking their Blackberry. We really did leave having dinner as a family to Beaver

An old saying that has been around for centuries is to never burn a bridge, because you never know when you might have to cross back over it. How many bridges have you burned to keep up with the new? Understandably old may not have a place in your life. You may have gained so much new weight that your old clothes don’t fit. You may have made decisions that changed the outlook on your life, and old relationships have to remain as is.

Life is forward motion. Standing still or living in the past is coffin fodder. We have to embrace change if we want to stay in the know. Record album, 8-Track, cassette tape, CD and MP3. The joy of going into the fast-food restaurant has been reduced to sitting in a line full of exhaust to receive a bag from the drive-thru. One window for orders; the next your edible delights. Get the product to the consumer as quickly and as compact as possible. Choke and go.

I love new. The internet and blogging, new shoes, new opportunities, you know, the new positive stuff. New is wonderful, familiar is comfortable, but old has always been reliable and reassuring. Can new become old and have lasting value, or is it new for such a short period of time that it fades away without a memory?

We decide what is best for our lives. If new is causing your decision-making process chaos to your megabyte memory storage files, press ctrl+alt+delete and save out with the new and in with the old.

I luv yah'll

Don't Drop Da Ball

We all love sports. Men love the battle, the camaraderie, the victories and defeats. Ladies love to see men in uniform being rough, ooh wee, and the money that comes with it. With the fun that a sport brings, there are rules that must be followed. You must stay inbounds, don’t foul out, no illegal contact, and don’t drop da ball.

Athletes work so hard to abide by the rules while on an authorized playing field. They don’t want to be the one to cause the team a penalty that may lead to a game loss. Yeah, on an authorized playing field they are a true team player. They hold on to da ball tight, they even wear a cup to assist in their effort. Don’t drop da ball – by any means necessary!

I can’t understand how they follow the rules for one team, but not the other. Is it because the other team isn’t equal? Is the other team not satisfying their needs? Does the other team not know their place? Till death do us part should make the other team equal to everything. Maybe till death do us part is in intensive care and needs a life saving operation, because by the looks of things, that sucka is on its way outta here.

People get married for the sake of having a wedding, not a marriage. We say that a woman wants a glamorous wedding more so that a man, but I don’t think so. Men want to look fly at a ceremony without putting in the work. They don’t lift a finger to help; just tell their boys to show up in a suit and get ready to drink.

“Well, I paid for whatever she wanted!”

Sorry, you paid for what you wanted. You paid for her to quit nagging you about this or that; you paid for silence and peace of mind. Money and peace will never be equal. The more peace a person has, the more piece of money they will have to pay to keep people from disturbing it. Funny, after all theses years we still haven’t learned that you can’t pay for peace.

The news during the new millennium has had many stories involving dropped balls, and the 90’s, the 80’s, and insert your decade here _____ dayum! Lawd, what happened, have cups gone out of style?

Do golfers wear cups? Maybe that’s Tiger Woods excuse. He has hit da balls on courses all over the world and I know he knows golf rules. When da ball is going towards the wrong target yell fore! That fool saw da balls going in the wrong direction and didn’t say a thing! Now he has to pay a penalty for his team…

Do basketball players wear cups? Maybe that’s Kobe Bryant’s excuse. He knows da balls are supposed to be dribbled on a basketball court. Since when did they put a basketball court in a hotel room that can only be played on from the backside? He is still paying interest on his team’s penalty…

Michael Jordan simply got confused. He tried to play basketball and golf and mixed up the rules. He didn’t know if he should yell fore or call a time-out. Instead of taking a step back and re-reading the rules, he just dunked da balls and swung da putter hoping for a good score. Not! Paying a team penalty for life ain’t no joke; no wonder he sells draws…

Steve McNair. I’m not saying anything. Till death do us part.

Michael Strahan should have put da ball between that field goal gap in his teeth instead of another woman’s flesh. Now he’s taking da balls to a field that has had funny balls in it for years. I hope da balls have a sense of humor and a lot of money…

OJ Simpson’s balls made him go crazy. If da balls aren’t getting enough playing time they just back up and burst.

Wilt Chamberlain was a ball-aholic. He didn’t get the nickname The Big Dipper solely for his skills on the court. I hope da balls were covered when he dipped them; passing illicit coatings around – barf, gag, vomit, shit, that’s nasty!

What has our society evolved into? When God made Eve for Adam did He have a wedding ceremony, or did He say “Here, Adam, tear it up and do what you want with it. And when you’re ready, take da balls wherever you want.” That doesn’t sound right to me, but maybe my hearing is shot.

Whose responsibility is it to keep track of da balls? Which team with the contract should make sure da balls don’t end up in the wrong game? Maybe we will figure that out one day; but until then, don’t drop da ball.

I luv yah'll.

Blind Eyes

What is for you is for you. That is one statement that I have found to be entirely true in my life. Other people are not supposed to understand your you. We are not supposed to try and make them understand; when you come to realize that, you’ll be alright.

Pain comes when you understand and accept that some people don’t care about who you are, what your plans are, or what you have accomplished. They care when you’re riding the high wave, but when that wave dips, you better get ready for their version of suffering. Some words shouldn’t be spoken aloud – especially when the target hears them. Beware of the situation and surroundings when you run your mouth because although your lips may stop, the words keep on going.

Your parents are the vessel that physically brought you here, but God created you long before they connected. He made you a teacher and a student. We all have a story to tell and have all learned a lesson from someone. Life forces us take on many roles and the teacher/student partnership is one that we must manage simultaneously. It can be difficult at times trying to understand the why come they don’t get me and trying to make them understand you at the same time. Years of tears may fall from frustration that we view as a disappointment. Understand this – there is nothing disappointing about you.

An honest heart makes mistakes. An honest heart hurts from the mistakes that is has made. An honest heart will continue on until it corrects the mistakes and prospers.

People always have something to say and if or how what they say upsets you, oh well. If you are not doing what they want you to do or allowing them to manage your finances with their hands deep in your pockets, you are of no use to them. When the wave dissipates, so do you. Living flesh doesn’t dissolve so easily – I’m still here. Don’t act like you can’t see me, you look so awkward.

So many smile in your face folks. Stop the fake presentations; no matter how good you think you look your teeth are yellow, your lips are chapped, your face is ashy, and, uh, I can see through you. I don’t think that God made that your you, but hey, that is so not for me to understand.

Don’t expect anyone to realize your dreams. Blind eyes see what they want to see. It’s sad to find out that folks are only down with you when you’re up, family members included. When He puts you in position for your you, you have to take all that comes with it and keep on. Look at some situations as a temporary assignment – you have your time limit, you’re learning something new about people everyday, and you get what you need until the nest phase arrives.

I have said that when God taps you on your shoulder don’t shrug it off. I used to shrug it off all the time. He took me and shook me by my shoulders then. He has prepared me for people like you. A sista is ready – bring on the blessings!

The wave is forming again but blind eyes can’t see it and this time, it’s going to ride high for eternity.

I luv yah’ll.

John T. Wills - Author of Just a Season

Hey yah'll!

I had the pleasure of interviewing a wonderful author on Wanda's Way, Sunday November 15th! John T. Wills, the author of, Just a Season, stopped in and left us with WOW! Download the show at http://www.blogtalkradio.com , or listen over on your right! In the meantime, read what makes up this wonderfula man, and an excerpt from, Just a Season! Enjoy :-)

*****
Biography -

John Thomas Wills has earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, he's been a professor, a businessman, author, past officer of several business and community boards, a volunteer and friend to many. Regardless of the worldly titles given, John prefers to be called a man. Any accolades the author has received he attributes to the teachings and solid foundation provided by a loving grandfather. This great man assertively implanted the concept that knowledge is power, which developed into the understanding that education is the single most important ingredient necessary to neutralize those forces that breed poverty and despair. This philosophy planted the seeds that cultivated a life, which is “Just a Season.”

Synopsis for Just a Season -

Just a Season is a luminous story into the life of a man who, in the midst of pain and loss, journeys back in time to reexamine all the important people, circumstances, and intellectual fervor that contributed to the richness of his life. This fictional narrative begins with a grief-stricken father visiting the grave site of his beloved son who was killed in a tragic accident; a moment that he and no other loving parent should ever have to face. As he sadly gazes at his son's headstone and reads what is inscribed there, the dates 1981 - 2001 bring about an illuminating discovery.

The tiny dash that separates the years of one's birth and death represents the whole of a person's life. So if this tiny dash were to tell his life's story, what would it say? In Just a Season, the dash of this man's life is revealed and what emerges from the pages of this book is a legacy of true benevolence and grace.

Praise for Just a Season -

"Just a Season is a thought provoking novel by author, John T. Wills. ...focusing on various topics such as pain, suffering, love and life. The characters and the plot are captured very well. It is very well written from beginning to end. This is one of those books, where you cannot judge the book based on its title and cover." Congratulations well done! -- Afrika Asha Abney

". . . Thank you for your example of tenderness and discipline in what I know is a story of love, delicately shared with readers in a way that says, this life, though brief, is significant. So hold it in highest regard for "the dash" is our legacy to love ones, indeed to the world, which we are blessed to share, albeit, for Just a Season." Excellent! --Sistah Joy, Poet, Cable TV Host

"Wills pulls you in from the very first page... Just a Season is a heart-wrenching story about growing up and believing in yourself. I highly recommend this book to young men in high school, trying to find themselves and feeling like they have nowhere to turn."
Cheryl Hayes, APOOO Book Club

"This is the stuff movies are made of... not since Roots have I read anything that so succinctly chronicles an African American story." Amazing!!!
Cheryl Vauls, Library Services

"Not since The Color Purple have I read a book that evoked such emotions. John T. Wills possesses the ability to transport the reader directly into the life and struggles of his main characters story. I was educated in a way that did not afford me the benefit of truly understanding the significance of the historical events taught from a stand alone perspective. This book actually touched my heart and inspired me to increase the equity in my "dash"! Excellent
Tonja Covington

"John T. Wills captures male bonding between generations and lets the reader passively watch as family love and closeness unfold on the pages . . ."
Outstanding -- A great read -- Cheryl Robinson, Host and Executive Producer of JustAboutBooksTalkShow.com

"JUST A SEASON is laced with thought-provoking commentary on the Vietnam War, the assassinations of the 1960s, the migration of crack cocaine into inner-city neighborhoods, and a myriad of other ills that have rocked America. This is a very good piece intertwined with several history lessons spanning many decades."
Dawn Reeves, RAWSISTAZ Book Club

"John T. Wills particulars each notion so eloquently that you feel that you're actually right there with him... this is an inflicting history lesson that I believe all African American males should experience." JUST A SEASON is a pivotal read
Carmen, OOSA ONLINE BOOK CLUB

"From the first page you are transported into John's world as if you are there and are experiencing it with him. I am amazed at how John is able to use the events of the time to let you know where you are in time. I felt as if I was teleported... his ability to describe what was going on during that time makes me extremely proud of my heritage. You will come away with a feeling of, now I know why that is. I thoroughly enjoyed "Just a Season".
Mia L. Haynes

"Just a Season is a work of love, respect and honor... A book filled with the wonder of life, and the pain and growth encountered in living it." Outstanding!

"in the final analysis the tiny little dash represents the whole of a person's life . If someone, for whatever reason, were to tell the story concealed within my dash. What might they say? ". A thought provoking and powerful read that will forever resonate within my soul . . . Speechless

Excerpt - Granddaddys Lessons

What do you think???

I’d like to offer a few thoughts concerning man/people love God who he/they cannot see, but cannot love the physical being of a the current political discourse on the health care debate. I’ve often asked myself; how can man who he can see? If we were about to witness the Second Coming of our Lord, another question would be; what would Jesus say? Believing and knowing that his life was lived in service of the least of thee and died for our sins - I wonder if he would react much in the way he did with the thieves in the temple.

I’ve watched the outrageous antics displayed during many of these town hall meeting where the opponents of something as morally correct as helping the sick are just “acting a fool”. Many of these folks are Republicans, it’s safe to assume, who believe in the sanctity of marriage, call themselves compassionate conservatives or Christian Conservatives, and believe in the right to life. Yet, they display such outrage and bigotry over an issue that would greatly benefit so many lives.

These are, many of them, the same folks who don’t believe our current elected president is the president. In this democracy to be qualified for the job one needs to be born in America to which most reasonable people would agree Hawaii, where records clearly indicate President Obama was born, is part of America. Then of course one must be elected by a majority of voters, which he was and by some accounts a “Landslide”. These same folks are all for bringing democracy to countries around the world but they apparently are not willing to accept it when it works here. I suppose this is the hypocrisy of democracy.

While watching television coverage of the town hall debates my thoughts were, I’ve seen this before – like in 1960. At one town hall event a news report covering the issue asked someone attending the rally; what is your concern? She said, “We want our country back”. As if the country was overthrown. The elderly woman went on to say “she wanted to restore the country back to what the founding fathers wanted in the Constitution”.

I looked at her wondering if she was aware that the Constitution was signed in 1887 by all white men excluding everybody but them. The founding fathers she referred to lived in a time when they owned human beings as chattel and women had no rights whatsoever. However, she was correct in that the Constitution affords us the right to free speech no matter how ridiculous it might be.

In her rage, she also said she does not want the government in her life making medical decisions for her. Hmmm – like the insurance company’s and HMO’s are doing now, if you are lucky enough to have insurance. She went on to say that “Obama wants the government to kill old people, socialize medicine, and take away our Medicare”. The lady who looked to be in her seventies and was wearing a t-shirt that said supports the troops obviously did not understand that both entities are government systems providing medical services that are socialized not to mention, I am sure, took advantage of Social Security. To be respectful this lady was surely among the low information crowd.

Standing near her in the frame of my television screen were people carrying signs with an erratic horary of issues. The most disrespectful was a sign that had the president looking like Hitler, arguably the worst man to every live. This might just be the reason for the Nazi remarks that could very well be a codeword for N- --- (n word) much in the way they throw around words like communist or socialist when referring to our president. Let’s be clear, the real issue is the face of what America looks like; a black President, a Jewish Chief of Staff, newly appointed Latin Supreme Court Justice, a woman Speaker of the House of Representatives – faces of ultimate power that are no longer all white men.

I don’t have to go back thirty or forty years because these people are the same ones we saw last summer attending rallies held by President Obama’s campaign opponent. However, I am old enough to remember the Jim Crow era when bigotry was a way of life and segregation was the law of the land. The problem is, I think, most African Americans have forgotten what it was like to be “Colored” and in spite of wanting to forget that myself I believe we are about to have a “Columbus Experience”. By that I mean we are going to discover America that “Real America” the now former Governor decried during the campaign because the actions of these people are eerily similar to the racism of a time I’d hoped to never see again.

I am an avid history buff. I just love knowing about the past because to know it and understand it allows you a glimpse into the future. For example, I can recall somewhere around 1860 when there was a movement by many states with a perverse idea called “secession”, which occurred and the United States split into two countries. The reason, as we all know, was about money and the profits gained from the institution of Slavery. Today the issue has again been raised for the same reasons – money, profits, and race.

Recently conservatives held what they called “Tea Parties” in many cities around the nation because they believe the country is going in the wrong direction. I suppose this was to symbolize the Boston Tea Party where the colonists were planting the seed of revolt. It is the same thing that was done in 1860 - revolt. Before I go on, let me say that they seemed to forget what course the nation was on during the last eight years when terror was the main concern.

When you talk about secession and government revolt – it’s called treason and that is brought about by terror. As much as we’ve heard about terror over the last eight years this mindset/behavior rises to the level of a greater evil. Let me highlight the most inflammatory act perpetrated to date. The other day a protester showed up for a town hall meeting held by the President of the United States - ARMED. “Strapped”, yes with a gun – a side arm in plain view where the president was speaking.

At another town hall event there was a guy arrested by the Secret Service because the protester was holding a sign that said he wanted to kill President Obama and his whole family. At the same event there were several signs that said, “Death to the tyrant”. This can’t be simply about health care reform. It’s been reported that the president receives 4-5 hundred death threats a day and with America’s horrible history of assassinations we should be very concerned. Let’s not forget the decade of the 1960’s where we lost a President, a King, an X, a Senator, and several other prominent leaders to assassination.

The actions of these people and let’s not leave out the radio commentators they listen to, who want the president to fail, spew their venom creating a very dangerous environment is reminiscent of the 1960’s. Surely there are a lot of mean spirited evil people in this world and evil is not usually associated with Jesus. Therefore, I think we know what Jesus would say, maybe something like - let’s turn to each other not on each other.

EXCERPT ALERT - LuvMe - This Rhythm is Rated L

“Just come open the door. I’m outside your apartment.”

“I’ll be right there.”

The phone landed somewhere as I ran to the door faster than I did before. This time when I opened it, Sheree stood before me with a long red coat on and a pair of thigh high red boots. She breezed past me and dropped her coat to the floor. The floor mat to the game Twister was wrapped around her body. She unwrapped it and let it fall. No other covering was on her. There was nothing that could do her justice. I closed the door.

“Take off your clothes.”

Without questions my ragged jogging pants and tee shirt came off. We faced each other naked – like a stand off, with her boots giving her more leverage than me.

“I want you to do what I say and do it well. Do you understand?”

My head shook up and down, then again, up and down, then again. I was dizzy within her.

“Go and get the ice bucket.”

Sheree’s voice came to me like a dominatrix in training. She spoke like she had one more test to pass before she could hold the crown. Her voice was forceful, soothing, and pleading from within for love. I listened. When I returned to the room with the bucket as she requested she had spread the mat out, and was standing at one end of it.

“Lay the bucket in the center of the mat on the yellow circle.”

I obeyed.

“Stand in the middle of the mat with my p**** over the bucket.”

As I began to move I heard My, My, My from the CD. I wanted to cry out that I was in love. A figure eight, a coke bottle, her waist, her thighs, her breasts, I, I…I couldn’t believe she stood before me. Her legs were spread a bit and I noticed a small tattoo high on her inner left thigh. I wanted to suck it.

“Left hand blue.”

The blue circle was to my rear so I bent back and placed my hand on it.

“Right hand green.”

The green circle was also to my rear. My bending more to the rear made my middle come down low over the ice bucket. I held my head back and let it hang. My body was open wide to her. She had me. Finally, I was hers.

The touch of her tongue blazed me to my heart. It pumped with anticipation. Sheree was between my legs teaching me how to love us. The ice gliding around me gave me a sensation of hot, cold, cool, and flaming at the same time. My mind ran far and came back close as she gently crawled over my body. My position was the same, my back was inner arched and my legs were open wide. She kissed my chest, my breasts, my belly button, and came back up to my neck. A tear escaped me.

“Right foot red.”

I slid my foot forward not knowing where it was going to end. I didn’t care; I just wanted to please Sheree.

“Left foot yellow.”This time the motion left me laying flat on my back with my eyes facing my baby. We took each other in within a twisted rhythm of euphoric colors. Her tender breasts lay on mine and my tears continued.

“Don’t cry, lover.”

Our lips met. I wrapped my arms around her trying to press her into me. Her hips, her ass, and her back belonged to me. I squeezed them all. My, My, My, our love came in yellow, red, blue, and green. A game so simple, yet so complex. The bucket tipped and a sensation came. More sensations followed. A game that taught me to release my fears in love.

The game taught Sheree to love the one her release is with. That night we played more than a mere child’s game. We dealt our cards, we rolled our dice, and ultimately we hit the Lotto. We won them all and have never stopped pleasing each other. We decided that night that we would work on having a relationship. Sheree thought all a relationship consisted of was sex, freaky or not. I didn’t know sex was a major part of one. That was seven years ago. To this day, Sheree makes me proud to say that my rhythm is rated L.
