David W. Kinney
NIAGARA FALLS —
David W. Kinney, 48, of Niagara Falls, NY, was called to God on
Thursday, May 22, 2014. Born at Mather AFB in Sacramento, CA, he was the son of
David L. and Sandra M. (DeLuca) Kinney, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY.
Dave attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott
Vocational High School in 1984 where he was elected as Class Treasurer. He
worked for the New York State Parks as well as the Bridge Commission,
Carborundum and for the past nineteen years the Niagara Falls Police Department
where he attained the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of the Niagara County
Judges and Police Association as well as a 4th Degree member of the Knights of
Columbus Council #247 in Niagara Falls, NY.
Dave enjoyed sports in all facets of his life, especially when
he played softball with his brothers, sons and as a member of the Niagara Falls
Police Team. Football was Dave's first love, while both playing and later on
coaching for Cataract Little Loop Football and Niagara Falls High School where
he helped to mentor the youth of Niagara Falls, playing collegiately at both
Youngstown State and the University of Buffalo, to coaching in Sweet Home for
their Little Loop program and eventually being named head coach of their modified
program, Dave always put the needs of his players first.
Among his many other hobbies, Dave enjoyed restoring his 1923
T-Bucket, hunting at the property he and his family constructed in Fillmore,
NY, collecting Star Wars memorabilia, bowling and competing in the annual
Police Department Tug-of-War competitions.
In addition to his parents, David is survived by his wife, Dawn
(Panepinto) Kinney; four sons, Adam (Felicia) Kinney, Mitchell Kinney, Jordan
Kinney and Ryan Kinney, all of Niagara Falls, NY; two step-children, Alyssa
Carella and Rocco Panepinto; two granddaughters, Aubrey Kinney and Addision
Kinney; two brothers, Joseph Kinney and John (Renee) Kinney, both of Niagara
Falls, NY; his sister-in-law PaulaAnn (Lewis) Fish of Pennsylvania; nephew and
Godson, AJ Kinney; as well as nephews, Conner Kinney, Bryan Fish, Gary Fish;
nieces, Kelsey Schramm, Paige Kinney, Ashley Kinney, Kristen Fish; and many
aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday from 1-4 PM and 6-9 PM at the M.J.
COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara
Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial
on Tuesday, May 27th at 10 AM at St. Raphael's Church, 3840 Macklem Avenue,
Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Ivan Skenderovic officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE
ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery,
Lewiston, NY. The Knights of Columbus Council 247 will conduct a service on
